SINCE THE START OF 2020 THE “SECOND STAGE PROJECT” HAS ALSO BEEN PART OF THE SERVICES OFFERED BY THE FÜRTH WOMEN’S HOUSE E.V.
“Second Stage” refers to the transition service (“half-way house”) between staying at the Women’s Shelter House and moving to one’s own flat or house. It is aimed at women affected by violence and their children who, due to their personal situation, do not or no longer need the high degree of protection and intensive psychosocial counselling provided in the Shelter House itself.
Building an autonomous, independent, violent-free life as a single mother is a huge challenge.
Achieving this requires a combination of targeted support in finding a flat and moving to there along with psychosocial counselling in this new life situation. The transition service accompanies the woman and her children in this process. It involves providing psychosocial counselling to the woman and her children by an experienced specialist and liaising with the Women’s House and the children section. In addition, support is given in finding a new place to live. The process of moving from the old house to the woman’s own flat or house is planned and carried out together. Support is given in case government offices need to be visited, in applying for financial assistance or getting in touch with the job centre so that clients have a secure financial base and can move independently into their own four walls.
This pilot scheme also aims at collaborating with housing cooperatives in order to make it easier for our residents and their children to gain access to housing.
